Freyja, sometimes also Fröa, Fröja, Freya or Freja means "mistress" and has given rise to the Swedish word "fru" (eng. wife), a title once held only by queens. Her real name is unknown to us.

"Our Lady", as she is also sometimes called, was the great goddess of Norse mythology. She rules over love, sexuality, victory, war and death. Freya can see into the future and she welcomes fallen warriors, women as well as men, into her abode, Folkvang. Her chariot is pulled by cats and she can adopt falconry.

Freyja's crown is a tiara adorned with real pearls. The wearing of a bridal crown is an old and beloved tradition in the Scandinavian countries. At the end of the 19th century, brides started wearing myrtle crowns as an alternativ to the crowns made of different kinds of metal. Crowns or wreaths made of straw also popped up as a cheaper alternativ to the adorned metal crown. Today many brides choose to wear a flower wreath, but real crowns are becoming more and more sought after. Freyja's crown is the perfect choice for a romantic, nature inspired fairytale wedding with a wink to the rich traditional nordic heritage.
