Who is Aurora?
At her sixteenth birthday, she would shed blood and fall asleep for a hundred years. The Sleeping Beauty.
Would this mean she doesn't age? Doesn't grow? Doesn't develop? Doesn't evolve? Doesn't come of age?
"Does a story really have to have happened, to be true?" a famous anthropologist once said -

What is the Project?
So the Sleeping Princess Aurora is ageless, existing out of time. But coincidentally, Aurora also means dawn; a bringer of light in the darkness - the Artist's task.
My intent is to take you on a journey of discovery through myths, stories and history, through the voices of women - I warmly welcome you to my world of long gone fairytales and half-forgotten dreams, taking place somewhere between sleep and awake -

Who is the Artist?
There is such an etheral sadness to the story of a sleeping, maybe dying, princess. Where is the coming queen?
Aurora's Chamber is a space; a chamber - bed chamber, treasure chamber or perhaps tomb chamber - for dreaming Princesses, and for coming Queens.
With love; to my mother, to my sister, to my daughter. To every mother, every sister, and every daughter.

About Louise
Our founder Louise, Artist & Designer, was schooled as a still photographer, but have since then also worked in filmmaking.
She was born in the university town of Lund, in the southern region of Skåne, Sweden. In her work, she takes inspiration from mythology, folklore and art history.
Starting from the premise that fairytales originated as tales for adults, and that they are dark stories telling us of life, birth and death, but also of the limbo that exists there in between, she sets out to explore the human condition, and with it the ambiguity of our relation to nature, as it is both a nurturing caregiver and a fundamental threat to our existence.
