Stormhatt (eng. Wolfsbane), Aconitum napellus, with its beautiful blue flowers, is highly poisonous. It has been called 'The Queen of all Poisons', and is also known as monkshood, Venus' chariot or aconite (from the mountain of Aconitus, where Hercules fought the monsterous dog Cerberus, whose saliva rendered the plant poisonous for all time). Wolfsbane contains the neurotoxin aconitine. 

In ancient Greece, the plant was used to poison spearheads. The mythological Medea tried to poison Theseus with this flower. In traditional Chinese medicine, wolfsbane was used to treat conditions such as rheumatism and gout.

Anyone with open wounds should handle wolfsbane very carefully. However, fatal poisoning is very unlikely to take place unless you actually eat the plant. Symptoms of poisoning can appear very sudden and include a burning sensation in the mouth and throat, vomiting, diarrhea, salivation, cold sweats, ants crawling, as well as more serious symptoms such as heart rhythm disturbances, muscle weakness and respiratory paralysis. There is no known cure for wolfsbane poisoning, the only option for sufferers is to keep their heart and lungs going artificially until the poison is removed from the body.
