Princess Iseult of Ireland

"Fold your arms round me close and strain me so that our hearts may break and our souls go free at last. Take me to that happy place of which you told me long ago. The fields whence none return, but where great singers sing their songs forever."

Princess Isolde, or Princess Iseult, is betrothed to King Mark of Cornwall. However, while traveling to marry him, she accidentally drinks a love potion with Tristan, one of King Mark's knights. Tristan and Isolde fall deeply in love with each other.

When Isolde arrives in Cornwall, she marries King Mark, but her feelings for Tristan do not wane. Tristan and Isolde begin a secret love affair that is eventually discovered. In some versions of the story, King Mark shows mercy and forgives them, while in others he takes revenge.

Isolde is sometimes described as a woman with healing powers, particularly through her knowledge of herbs and their medicinal properties. In some stories, she uses this knowledge to help Tristan heal when he is wounded in battle.

Isolde's passion and unwavering loyalty to Tristan, even in the face of betrayal and tragedy, illuminates her positive traits of love, courage and resilience. She is a determined woman who faces her wedding day with King Mark with courage, despite considering it her death day. The heroine Isolde is a timeless symbol of love, devotion, and inner strength, and a source of inspiration and empowerment leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who encounter her tale.
