Mary Queen of Scots

“In my end is my beginning.”
***
Mary Queen of Scots, or Mary Stuart, inherited the Scottish throne at just six days old. Her reign was marked by conspiracy, treachery and death, often involving one of her husbands.
History has made her into a romantic heroine, known for ruling with her heart, and Mary's life has inspired poets as well as artists and writers over the centuries. In one of the many films in which she is portrayed, she says that 'kings win in life, hearts in eternity'. Mary's life came to an abrupt end when she was executed by her cousin Elizabeth I, after almost 20 years in captivity.
