Belle & The Eternal Rose

Belle & The Eternal Rose

- a Rose is a Rose is a Rose -

Belle, or Beauty, is the main character in the classic fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast”.

Belle's father is caught in a storm and takes refuge in a mysterious castle. After promising his daughter Belle a rose from his trip, he takes one from the beautiful rose garden outside. The Beast appears. He tells the father that he must die for taking advantage of the Beast's hospitality. To save her father, Belle offers to take his place in the castle.

Belle promises to stay in the castle forever, but asks to see her family to say goodbye to them. Her sisters, jealous as they see that Belle is dressed in beautiful clothes, persuade her to stay longer than planned. Delayed, Belle returns to the castle, where she finds the Beast dying in the rose garden, dying of a broken heart. She begs him to live, and the Beast is transformed into a beautiful prince. He tells her that a fairy turned him into a beast long ago, because he refused to let her into the warmth. The spell would only be broken if he could be loved, and even love back, despite his appearance.
